Wachu generates activity reports about public Instagram profiles from data Instagram makes publicly available, plus — for private profiles — data accessible to an Instagram account you choose to connect. This page explains what we collect, how AI-generated labels work, and how to contest or remove information about you.

1. What we process

The target profile you scan: handle, name, public counts, public posts, and the public accounts they follow / who follow them.
Your email, used to deliver and retrieve your report.
For private scans, the session cookies of the Instagram account you explicitly connect — used once to read the followers list, then discarded.

2. AI-generated labels (gender & controversy)

Some labels in a report — predicted gender and any "controversial" flags — are produced by an automated AI model from public name/handle signals. They are estimates, not verified facts, can be wrong, and must not be treated as statements of fact about any individual.

Controversy flags reflect well-known public figures the model recognises; for ordinary private individuals the model is instructed to return no flag. We only surface a flag above a high confidence threshold, and always alongside an "AI estimate" notice.

3. Contest or remove a label (takedown)

If you are featured in a report and believe a label or your inclusion is inaccurate or unwanted, email [email protected] with the handle in question. We will:

review and, where a label is contested, remove or correct it, and add the profile to a no-enrichment exclusion list;
on request, delete reports that reference your account from our systems;
respond within a reasonable timeframe (we aim for a few business days).

4. Cookie custody (private scans)

Connected-account cookies are encrypted at rest, isolated to the single report you ran, never reused across reports, and never shared. Using an account for automated access may cause Instagram to flag or temporarily restrict it; connect only an account you are comfortable using for this.

5. Retention

Reports are retained so you can return to them via your private link. AI label results are cached for up to 7 days to avoid recomputation. You may request deletion at any time at the address above.
